Users of BPCS® and PRMS can now evaluate their Year 2000 conversion process before committing to a tool

Naperville, IL – April 17, 1998 – Nexgen Software Technologies today announced the immediate availability of a Test Drive feature for Focus/2000 for BPCS® ® and for Focus/2000 for PRMS. This new feature enables a prospective customer, at no charge, to use the Year 2000 conversion tool on a subset of their BPCS® or PRMS files and programs to evaluate the tool in their environment.

One of the most difficult aspects of the year 2000 conversion process is the preparation of the actual conversion environment. Focus/2000 Test Drive gives the BPCS® or PRMS user the ability to automatically set up a test environment with a pre-identified subset of programs and data. Test Drive automatically explodes this environment and identifies and lists all dependent objects and their point of residence.

"This will significantly reduce the evaluation time for a BPCS® or PRMS user who needs to go through a certification process to prove that the tool can effectively perform the conversion for their specific environment, " said Dan Mitchell, CTO of Nexgen. "By identifying to the tool a predetermined set of programs and files over which the tool will perform the conversion, the tool automatically explodes the dependent source and objects and runs the conversion programs against these."

Pricing

There is no charge for this feature. After receiving and loading Focus/2000 Test Drive, the customer will need to notify Nexgen to receive a security key which allows them to test drive for a fixed time limit. At the end of this time limit, the customer must contact Nexgen to purchase a perpetual license for Focus/2000 or return the programs.
