Nexgen
Offers Y2K Solution to PRMS Users
Focus/2000
for PRMS Automates Year 2000 Date Correction
Naperville,
IL March 19, 1998 Nexgen Software Technologies,
building upon the widespread success of their automated year
2000 tool, Focus/2000 for BPCS® ®, announces
the release of Focus/2000 for PRMS. This new product is an
end-to-end solution that corrects century date handling in
all AS/400 versions of PRMS prior to Version 8.4, including
modified and custom code.
PRMS
is an ERP package developed and distributed by Acacia Technologies,
an independent business unit of Computer Associates International,
Inc. PRMS is installed at over 2000 sites in 22 countries.
Nexgen's Focus/2000 for PRMS provides users with a more cost-effective
alternative to the vendor-supplied millennium solution. Acacia's
Version 8.4 of PRMS is century-compliant and has been well-received
by the user community, but it requires an upgrade project
that is potentially expensive and very time-consuming.
"Nexgen
identified demand for an alternative Y2K solution through
its large PRMS consulting practice," said Nick Becker,
General Manager of Services for Nexgen. "Many PRMS users
seek an answer that will provide them with century-enabled
software right now, without the additional concerns of upgrading
to a new release. This demand is particularly prevalent among
PRMS users who have heavily modified their software over many
years. For them, examining their modifications and integrating
them with the new version can easily cost hundreds of thousands
of dollars and take months of effort."
Focus/2000
addresses the needs of these clients. Focus/2000s powerful
knowledge base consists of soft-coded rules which identify
failure points in the RPG and CL programming logic. Once the
tool has identified century-ambiguous code, it then automatically
replaces it with century-compliant code. The tool covers every
step from analysis and conversion through source correction
and compilation.
Focus/2000
for PRMS is uniquely suited for users of PRMS software who
are satisfied with the functionality of their current software
and do not wish to launch an upgrade project at this time.
Companies can expect the conversion task to be completed within
a few weeks, with no user retraining needed. Nexgen's Focus/2000
for PRMS allows companies to focus on business processes rather
than software changes.
Nexgen
Software Technologies, Inc. is headquartered in Naperville,
Illinois, a Chicago suburb in the areas High Technology
